How big a head start do the Tampa Bay Lightning need?

Evidenttly, more than two goals and two periods,

The Bolts, spotted to a 3-1 lead going into the third period, couldn't hold on against the Washington Capitals Friday afternoon, losing a 4-3 overtime game despite building themselves an advantage.

Dmitry Orlov scored the winning goal for the Caps with 3:03 to play in the extra period.

The Lightning had taken. 3-1 lead on goals by Brayden Point, Mikhail Sergachev and Alex Killorn.

“A 3-1 lead.. it doesn’t matter if you're home or on the road,' said Lightning coach Jon Cooper. "Self-inflicted wounds. We turned the puck over on the second one. We don’t make the play on the third one.  But you can't sit here and say we had our chances and didn’t bury them. We have to do a better job putting the puck in the net."

The Lighting is home tonight against Carolina. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7 p.m.
