Why does Daddy have to sign letter of intent?

My speech to the Pinellas County Gator Club:

First of all, have all of you faxed in your national letters of intent?

Show of hands?

I don’t know about you, but it seems silly to me that a kid such as CeCe Jefferson has earned a scholarship to college, road and board for four years, $200 thousand dollars worth of school, and for some reason, Daddy has to sign his letter.
