in general, Tampa Bay Rays

Recently, I was flattered when Bob Andelman, a fine writer and one of the best guys around, asked me to write an updated afterword for an updated version of his essential book Stadium for Rent. Bob can throw heat with the best of them, and he's crafty on the basepaths. Here is the afterward. You really should buy his book.

You can tell a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies by the leather in his lungs. It isn't hard. He knows all the swear words, and he takes pride in how he refuses to suffer a lesser player.

You can tell a fan in Chicago by the haunted look in his eyes. It's pretty easy. There have been Hall of Fame players for the Cubs, and there have been great seasons.
