Another team might think about adding a new pitcher for $100 million or so. Maybe an outfielder for $75 million. Maybe both.

Another team might look at good players with bad contracts, and brace itself for the bidding wars ahead. Another team might covet the free agents ready to fill their shopping carts with money.

But this is the Tampa Bay Rays.

Pretty much, they'll try to polish what they have.

Will the Rays be better next year? It depends. Will Steven Souza Jr. hit for a higher average? Will Chris Archer be better in the second half. Will the five-innings-a-night pitching plan be tweaked? For this team, that is where the improvement lies. Not with outsiders bolstering a roster, because there is never money for any be reshaping. But with
