in general, Tampa Bay Rays

At first glance, no team should have wanted a Wil Myers more than the Tampa Bay Rays.

He's young. He's cheap. He's talented. He's charismatic. He's a rare hitter in an organization that doesn't know a lot about hitting. He has a lot more tomorrows than yesterdays.

Myers? Why, the Rays should want three or four of them. More, maybe. They should collect Wil Myers like a card dealer collects bobble-heads. They should fill the dugout with Wil Myers, all of whom would promptly say “Duuuude.''

And, yet, the Rays have shipped him away.
