Rays begin search for clues as camp opens

in general, Tampa Bay Rays

Thursday, 6 a.m.

Around here, all the exclamation marks have turned to question marks.

The footing no longer seems steady around the Tampa Bay Rays. No one is sure of anything anymore. The giant-killers of baseball are starting over, it seems, and these days, a lot of positions seem like multiple choice quizzes.

Fourth place?

Fifth place?

How much better might it be?

I think that the middle infield needs to be more settled than ” a liitle here, a little there”. From what I saw last year, Franklin is not an everyday 2nd baseman and Forsythe seemed to be a guy Maddon loved; why, I don’t know. This is Beckham’s last shot and I think he may surprise and wind up at 2nd. Keep an eye on Daniel Robertson; because of Ju-Lee’s injuries, Robertson is supposedly the new *future* SS.
Outfield: Jennings (fingers crossed); Kiermaier (fingers crossed); like Beckham, Souza is not a 20 year old; potential is a word with a short shelf life.
Can Kevin Cash still catch? 😉

Gary…I have to admire your honesty. Severe head scratching is the most common action for current Ray’s watchers. Welcome to the club!!!
