TAMPA

The word itself seems hard to say. It catches in the throat as if it were foreign, as if its very pronunciation caused pain to attempt.

Stamkos scored his 250th, but he wasn't impressed / ANDREW J. KRAMER

It sticks on something down in the throat, and for some reason, it cannot get past the tongue. It is a stranger's word, and it sounds vulgar as it hits the air.

Slump.

And, now, we find out something else about this Tampa Bay Lightning team.

The Lightning lost its second in a row for only the second time this season, and for the first time on its home ice. Say what you want about effort, and say what you want about 36 shots, and say what you want about milestone goals. For the Lightning, however, the game is about winning, and it has not made that happen for a while now.

Slump.

Just like that, the world feels wrong.
