I like Chris Archer.

I think he's a bright guy, reflective. I think he's a heck of a pitcher who is just entering stardom. I think he's funny to watch as he sneaks up behind one teammate after another, armed with a Gatorade jug, intent on making players wet for their heroics.

I like Evan Longoria.

Longoria has a nice perspective to him. He has incredibly high standards. He carries himself like a star, but he approaches his job like a day laborer. Longoria doesn't talk nearly enough to the media – he spends most of his days on the way to do something else – but when he does, there a nice sense of self there.

I like Kevin Cash.

Agreed, this could be a very fun team–but, the fun, and the likeability, will end soon if the offense doesn’t score more than 2 runs a game. Once (if) our winning percentage gets much below .500, there will be no more likeability. We can only hope they hang in there around .500 until September at least.

I agree with you Gary…..I like this team alot. I hope that the crowds will pick up now.

Nice writing, Gary, and exactly right, they are a bunch of blue-collar players making the best out of what they have – and are surely likeable. I do hope they have better results at the Trop in the 2nd half, and a lot more people there watching them do it!
