Say this much for Kevin Cash's new home.

The yard sure is spacious.

The living room is too long and narrow, if you want to know the truth. The bathroom needs upgrading. There isn't any closet space. The hallways feel kind of cold. The neighborhood isn't great.

But as Cash sits on the bench and looks out across the carpet, he cannot help but smile.

This is his joint now.

The new guy checked out his digs Monday afternoon. Cash, the new manager of the Rays, sat in the dugout – his dugout – and looked forward. Up there were the championship banners. Up there was the renowned catwalks. Out there was where he sat in 2008, in the Red Sox bullpen, as Tampa Bay clinched the American League pennant.
