Imagine the Rays paying everyone

in general, Tampa Bay Rays

Wednesday, 6 a.m.

You hate the way the Rays can squeeze nickels so hard they leave fingerprints.

You hate how frugal they can be. You hate how money can define them. You hate the way it forces them to trade today's players for tomorrow's possibilities You hate the green ceiling.

But what if the Rays had kept the old gang together?

Can you imagine the payroll then?

Thank God that there is free agency, otherwise these talented players would not be able to make the money that they deserve.
The Rays are in a catch 22 situation, and in my opinion, will never stop being a training ground for future stars until they are sold to someone that can afford to pay for the best, and compete.
Of course a new stadium wouldn’t hurt.

Unless he has a better year than the last year and a half, the conclusion that Jennings is already over paid may come this year. In 3 years, he has never played in more than 132 games; his highest BA is .252; and this is my lead-off hitter?

The glue that holds all of this together over the last seven or so years was Joe Maddon. Paying him $5 mil/season seemed like a good investment when you were playing some borderline players (DeJesus, Luke Scott) much more than that. The manager isn’t where you want to go bargain hunting, especially for small market teams like the rays. Hope Cash knows what he’s doing…….
