Hang around the ballpark long enough, and old arguments become fresh again. It's like a rerun, like a debate circling the bases until the same old points are worth repeating.

For instance, there is the one about why so few fans go the Rays games. Heard that one?

There is the one about the lack of power? Heard that one?

There is the one about the use of the bullpen? That's just now making the rounds.

Then there is this one. Ladies and gentlemen, start your arguments.

It's time to discuss … Derek Shelton.

Now, on one level, the displeasure over Shelton is understandable. He's the Rays' hitting coach, and the Rays aren't hitting. Who else are you going to
