Easy on the expectations for McElwain

He should approach the microphone slowly, letting the applause pour over him. In some ways, this may be his sweetest moment for some time to come.

Jim McElwain should then raise his arms. The cheering will rise as he does, but McElwain should keep his arms above his head, as if he was signaling a touchdown. Finally, the noise will die down, and the applause with it.

Finally, it will be quiet, and McElwain should lean carefully into the microphone. And then he should say this:

“Let's...

calm...

the...

heck...

down.''

If any five words can sum up a program, these are the ones. No, McElwain won't start with them. He'll turn his press conference into a pep rally the way new coaches always do, and as they leave, everyone  will agree he has said the right thing. Yeah, McElwain will win Saturday.
