Great guy, John Lynch.

Right up to the point he was trying to free your head from your shoulders.

Yessir, that Lynch guy was about as nice a fellow as you would want to meet, considering that he wanted you to wake up sometime Wednesday morning. It didn't matter who you were: a quarterback or a receiver or a teammate or a brother-in-law. Lynch was a head-hunter, and yours would look just fine on his mantle.

The Bucs will call a press conference for this afternoon and announce that Lynch, once again a finalist for the Hall of Fame, will be added to the team's Ring of Honor. Lynch will be the ninth inductee, joining teammates Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Mike Alstott and Paul Gruber. John McKay, Lee Roy Selmon, Jimmie Giles and Doug Williams are also recognized.

It will be a fine honor for Lynch. Few remember that Lynch

Happy for John, and would love to see the other 10 up there, too. We haven’t managed to have many great teams, but we’ve had a lot of great players, and a couple of pretty good coaches to boot.
