At hello, McElwain looks big enough for the Gators

He had them at hello. But, really, doesn't every coach?

He strikes you as confident, as excited, as eager. But, really, doesn't everyone come into the arena that way?

In the years to come, it is possible that you may feel differently at Jim McElwain. He hasn't played FSU yet. He hasn't traveled to LSU. He hasn't looked across the field at Nick Saban. He hasn't faced third-and-two.

But say this for McElwain.

At first glance, he seems big enough for the job.

“He hasn’t looked across the field at Nick Saban.”

Pretty sure he looked across the field and saw Saban when Colorado St. played them this year.

Not in a game that counts, but your point is good

Fingers crossed for Big Jim, at least give us an offense!

Ah, you’d just want a defense after that.

Cecil: You’re a good fan. And a smart one. There is a lot of truth to what you say with any bad team. Defense is easier than offense, so teams play it safe. Nothing wrong with safe and taking chances when you can. Heck, the Patriots play that way. But you need to be able to win a game in a variety of ways, and the Bucs can’t.
