Where has this offense been all season?

The Rays scored nine times, including seven times in the fifth, to lead their way to a 9-6 victory over the New York Yankees. It was only the second time the Rays have won in Yankee Staidum this season.

The Rays trailed 4-1 in the fifth, and Gray seemed to be cruising. However, with one out, the Rays scored on a passed ball and a wild pitch. Wilson Ramos then hit a two-run homer, his 11th. Cesar Puello singled in one run, and Peter Bourjos tripled in two to open the game.

Rays' starter Jacob Faria went only three innings and was followed by six other Rays' pitchers. The victory win to Chih-Wei Hu, his first.

“I thought we did a good job of laying off some tough pitches,” Rays manager Kevin Cash said of the outburst in the fifth. “Sonny Gray is so tough. He's got so much leg action. The at-bats were good big hits from a lot of people.”

The Rays had two hits each from Mallex Smith and Corey Dickerson.

“We've got to find a way to win here for us to be the team we want,” Cash said. “In this division, the Yankees are always going to be a pretty good cub.”

Tampa Bay now returns to Tropicana Field for the season's final three-game series against Baltimore. Jake Odorizzi starts tonight (7:10 p.m.) against the Orioles' Wade Miley.
