To win, the Bucs need to be in a rush

in general, Tampa Bay Bucs

TAMPA

The distance between success and failure isn’t that far, really.

You can measure it in the length of your driveway. In the width of a small bedroom. Less
than the distance of swimming pool.

From here to there. It’s that tantalizingly close. Most weeks, you can almost reach out
and touch it.

It’s the distance from the defensive end to the quarterback. And if a team con cover it
quickly enough, this game called football becomes easy.

Take the Tampa Bay Bucs and there now-you-see-it, now-you-don’t pass rush. On the days
it clicks, the Bucs are a decent team with a chance of getting better. On the days it does not,
it is time to watch cornerbacks burn. You can only hold your head in both hands.

Consider the two afternoons this year when the Bucs were successful. One was a narrow
win in Pittsburgh, the other easy stroll in Washington. One starred Mike Glennon at quarterback, the other Josh McCown. In one, the opposing coach probably thinks “What in the world happened?’’ In the other, the coach asks “Where did that team come from?’’
