Miller becomes envy of the NFL in Super Bowl

by Gary Shelton on February 8, 2016 · 3 comments

in general, NFL, Tampa Bay Bucs

Monday, 6 a.m.

From the first snap, he was a blur.

From the first tackle, he was the star.

From the first big play, he was the MVP.

This was the Von Miller Super Bowl. He was the best player, the lead singer, the star attraction. Everyone else was a supporting actor in charge of pounding him on the shoulder pads and telling him now good he was.

It still amazes me how some do and some don’t. Two years ago Denver was ranked (Pro 21st in team defense – the Bucs were ranked 20th. This year? Denver 4th, Bucs 26th. Wow.

As you know I’m no critic of you or your opinions. However, mentioning the absence of Aqib Talib from Tampa Bay seems more than strange from one who, at the time and when it counted most, criticized his chronic behavioral faults and how this evidence of lousy character would keep on letting his Buc team down. Irrespective of how tightly he covered receivers in this Super Bowl, two of his three penalties were caused by his lack of discipline. Aqib Talib is a terrific corner back and a full time louse as a person.

I agree with that. I thought the Bucs needed to move on desperately from Talib, who grew up on teams with Brady and Manning. I doubt he would have done so here. He is a fine player, but as you say, a louse as a person.
