Here’s an idea for the Pro Bowl: Except for those in the Super Bowl, you only get half of your Pro Bowl bonus if you don’t play. The other half goes to charity. Might that improve attendance?

Not really. It may influence a few, but not the bulk of the players.

Most of these guys are making big bucks. So to try and entice them with a carrot, when they own a meat factory, will be a hard sell. The charity part sounds good, but when it comes to protecting yourself from a potential injury, charity starts at home. I don’t blame players for not going; it’s a bad idea. The whole Pro Bowl concept is a farce and why the league is so driven to have this game defies logic.

If they really wanted to entertain the fans, here's a thought:

Perhaps there is a different standard for running backs vs. wide receivers who don’t take the same pounding as a rule.

Well, off the top of my head Barry Sanders and Robert Smith walked away, and I believe they were as talented as CJ, and I can’t find a thing the matter with their DNA. The fact that you never liked Calvin Johnson isn’t a reason to attack his heart, question his warrior instincts, or guess at his motivation.
