Offensive line a pleasant surprise for Bucs

Thursday, 6 a.m.

It has been rebuilt on the fly, spackle and duct tape, rookies and castoffs, built with microwave speed. Together, the members are here to protect the future. They are here to make you forget an ordinary past.

They are the offensive linemen of the Tampa Bay Bucs.

And they're better than you feared they would be.

Say it quietly, because few fans are satisfied with the play of their team's offensive line. Fans want a left tackle who smothers his opponent, and a left guard who is a brawler and a center who is dominant and a right guard who breaks bones and a right tackle who blocks out the sun,
